Elliott in the Kitchen
The first week I (Elliott) worked in the kitchen. I have been doing mostly dishes.
I learned a lot about the organization, how is it hard to make food for more than 200 people (campers and staffs), how everybody just do their best to prepare good meals that are ready in time.
A day in the kitchen usually start at 6:00 am to prepare the breakfast and finish at 7:00 pm with the dishes of the dinner.
People who work in the kitchen make a real team. It is like being in a restaurant because everybody is doing his own job and they all have the same goal.
In the kitchen, we are usually three or four to do the dishes. There are two sinks. In the first one we put the dishes and use a pommel with a stream of water. In the second one there is hot water with javel. Finally we have a special machine to wash one last time at high temperature.
So, doing dishes is like being in a factory where people work in assembly line. It is just amazing and so efficient!
I really liked working in the kitchen, and I am glad that they put me in a cabin during this week so I started to prepare myself for next week because I will be a counselor and have a cabin!!
